Dutch Icesculpture Festival
The Dutch Ice Sculptures Festival is getting bigger and better then ever this year. From Saturday 15 December 2018 until Sunday3 March 2019, our event wil take you to the breathtaking world of crystal clear ice and shimmering snow.
The theme of the Dutch Ice Sculptures Festival this year is: "World famous stories". The best ice artists from around the world come to Zwolle where they work in a 1.200 m2 freezer hall with 275,000 kilos of ice and 275,000 kilos of snow. In this way they translate the stories in ice and snow sculptures up to 6 meters high. "Special effects" with light, sound and projection make the images even more magical. Romeo and Juliet, the Three Musketeers, Robin Hood, Animal Farm, Allice in Wonderland and many more stories are brought to life.
The IJsselhallen will be transformed into a Winter WonderLand during the Christmas holidays. The heated halls are decorated in winter atmospheres with adapted catering. A special Winter Wonderland KidsPlaza is created for the children. A free plaza with fair attractions, games and inflatable bouncers. After the visit to the Dutch Icesculpture Festival, our train will take you to the center of Zwolle for free, only a 7-minute walk from the IJsselhallen.
Combine your visit to the Nederlands IJsbeelden Festival with a visit to the cozy Hanseatic city of Zwolle. A city with a rich history, pleasant shopping streets and the ability to stimulate your taste buds with maximum culinary excitement. Zwolle is a city that invites to be discovered. You are more than welcome!
